This list of books are unfamiliar to me.
If you ever feel that a book is unsuitable, for Grout students . . .
for any reason . . . please let me know the book and the reason and
I will consider removing it from this link page:

The Book of the Blue Sea by Henry NewBolt
In the olden days, kids had to go to work earlier in their lives
than you do. This book starts with a story about a boy
who went to "sea" to work on a ship, when he was only 11 years old.
Imagine THAT!

Jonas on a Farm in Winter by Jacob Abbott
This looks like a good book about a boy's farm-life in the early 1800's.
Life wasn't easy for kids in those days. I think I'll read this book, too,
and write a book report here when I am done. Remind me if I forget.

The Sea Fairies by L. Frank Baum
This is a story NOT about that land of OZ by the same author.
Maybe it is a good story . . . maybe not. I haven't read it yet.
It has a lot of pictures and the front cover is a little scary looking . .
but still . . . let's see what the words say.

The Adventures of Peterkin by Gilly Bear
I vaguely remember reading this story as a child . . . something about
a little fairy/insect who lives in a pumpkin and has a great adventure
at sea . . .

Magic Dogs of the Volcanoes by Manlio Argueta
Looks like a good story. It is also written in Spanish so you can read
both versions.

Undine - Told to the Children
This is an old story, which I read as a young person. I enjoyed it but
it is very old fashioned. It's an old fairy tale.

The Birds Who Flew Beyond Time by Anne Baring & Thetis Blacker
This looks like a beautiful fable with gorgeous, colorful illustrations.

Axle The Freeway Cat by Thatcher Hurd
I remember reading this as a child. I loved this story about this
nice cat and his life.

Denslow's Humpty Dumpty by W.WDenslow
What a cute story about an egg that felt vulnerable
and how he solved his problem.

Cry-Baby Moon by Katerina Mataira & Terewai Kemp
I loved this story and I especially loved the illustrations.
I loved the way everyone was so kind to cry baby moon.

Gertie's Sun Flower  by Mabel; Illustrations by George Lambert
A charming little story of a sunflower's lesson to the delight of two
little girls.  A rather old fashioned book with beautiful pictures.

Little Folks in Busy-Land by Ada Van Stone Harris; and Lillian McLean Waldo; and gorgeous illustrations by Elizabeth Jones Babcock
A delightful fantasy with gorgeous pictures for young children.

Nuova: or, The New Bee by Vernon Kellogg; with songs by Charlotte Kellogg; Illustrated by Milo Winter
This story looks really cute as it is all about the life of a queen bee. The illustrations are very charming because they look like fairies and fantasy creatures. The story is supposed to be what it is really like in a hive.

The Story of Dr Dolittle by Hugh Lofting

My Father's Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett
